What should I tell you about this grey? This grey should be empty like my^H^H your soul. This grey has been up all night in the computer lab playing X-COM Apocalypse and listening to Teenager of the Year on repeat, but now this grey is going to telnet into a site is named after a friend’s misremembering of the name of the drug they use in Vurt and type some things. The things typed will also be grey. It is a monochromatic experience with a lot of arbitrary line breaks and deeply-felt sentiment, expressed inchoately. The arbitrary line breaks might have come from the text editor (it was joe) or they might be completely arbitrary.  The inchoate expression is just what you get under the circumstances.

Would it be a good idea to revisit some of that stuff? The site is still there. “This is the time. And this is the record of the time.” Well it isn’t the time now, is it. Probably too late to apologize. Also the prose might be “cute” or “surprisingly not that utterly terrible” to someone else but as the trace of a former self it can induce a kind of scalding evocative horror so it is probably best to avoid revisiting it.

John Leigh would never even TRY to quarantine the past what are you talking about.
